Homecoming-Sunday

Sunday was the day we had been waiting for, it was the day we would get to wear our matching dresses. In church I got introduced as Bree, our old roommate who bought us matching dresses. Everyone loved them, and especially my roommates because they are so dang comfortable. We have decided that every year we are going to get matching clothes for pictures.

(we all loved the pockets)

My last and probably most significant part of the trip had to do with my roommates roommate, Cherry. She is an exchange student from China. I haven’t had the best experiences with international students and maybe that’s why Cherry is so special. We basically love everything she tells us, I asked her one day, what is your favorite thing about me? And she said, you very curious and clever and the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. Hailey taught Relief Society on Sunday and it was their fast Sunday so she left some time for testimonies. I’m not sure any of us thought Cherry would get up and share. I forgot to mention that Cherry is not a member of the church, but has been meeting with the missionaries. She started by telling us when she first talked to Ashley she saw the glory and light on Ashleys face when she talked about God. Then she told us about how she was at the MTC and they showed us her the first edition of the Book of Mormon and how her heart shivered and her face was flush and that she knew what was in the book was the truth. She spoke about how in her culture they don’t know a god, but that now that she knows that there is a God that he will be with her forever, that she is not hopeless anymore and will never be alone because he will always be there. Needless to say by the end all of us were crying, well except Cristy who said that she was crying in her heart.

Homecoming-Saturday

We stayed up pretty late the previous night so we all kind of sleeped in on Saturday morning, some more than others! The plan was to go to Tucanos, shop for some jeans and then to the football game, but when I called to put in our reservation at Tucanos they a two hour wait! Though we were all disappointed, we preserved and decided on Zupas. I have not found a single place that has a sandwich anywhere close to the hawian bbq, it was perfect.

Jean shopping went pretty well except for my friends who all thought I should get jeans that strangled my thighs. They tried and tried, but I knew better. We finally found a pair that I liked and a skirt that even fit me from downeast. We had all been sharing the same fitting room and so when Ashley came in to ask me where the jeans were that I was going to get, I didn’t hesitate in telling her. I thought she was just being helpful in grabbing them for me, but oh no she went to the registar and bought the jeans and skirt for me. It wouldn’t have been so bad except that when I realized what she was doing, I busted out of the dressing room not fully dressed with my long johns on trying to catch her.

Our next event was the football game. I had been trying to get tickets to the game the whole time I was up there. ESPNs college Game Day show was being taped in Provo, so not only was it homecoming but the whole town was pumped for the ESPN show, which made finding a ticket really hard. They were on craigslist for 40-85 bucks. It started raining as we were driving home and I was so thankful. I knew that people wouldn’t want to be in the rain to watch a football game, even if we were playing TCU. I immediately started texting people and though many, yes many believed that I couldn’t get a ticket for 10 dollars, I totally did. We went to where Lionel, Ashley and Cristy were and they had basically amazing seats. The game wasn’t horrible until the second half when we really just started making stupid mistakes. It was so so cold, that we left a little early, we had a group date to prepare for.

Pumpkin Helmet
We wanted to go to the haunted corn maze at Thanksgiving point, but to ask a blind date that we all probably wouldn’t see again to spend 16 bucks on a ticket seemed a little out of control. Instead we opted for the one in pleasant grove that was only 8 bucks a ticket. Right before we left, Sarah got a boot! On the ride to the corn maze we got to dance in the car, and it was basically amazing.

The corn maze was pretty cold, but eventually after many dead ends we were able to find our way out! They had little games to play outside so we danced, roped, jumped, threw bean bags and played in a corn box. Back at the apartment Sarah made us cinnamon rolls and hot chocolate!

My roommates who had been fasting were incredibly tired, but I still made them do some dances before we went to bed.

Homecoming-Friday

Friday morning the goal was to wake up early enough to get to campus and have breakfast at taco bell, they have amazing breakfast gorditas and Im pretty sure it’s the only place they actually sell them. I use to get one every day that I had economics and eat it in class. They are so good that I ordered two and totally downed them!
Hailey and Ashley have the easiest jobs on campus. If any of you wonder where our tithing money goes, here is a clip of what they do during working hours…(dance parties in the RB).

Hailey was called in to help on a special project so her and I moved I would say literally over a 1000 towels from the RB to the Smith Field House. IT was quite the adventure moving these heavy carts across a street on your own. We were working so hard that we were sweating! Hailey then had a project for her public speaking class where we had to go around and ask guys what they had always wanted to know about girls. Haze studied in the fish bowl for about thirty minutes while I looked for tickets to the football game. The next class was Chemestry 101 which I took my last semester. We were suppose to meet Amy in salt lake that night, but got a late start because Cristy loves math so much. We decided to eat at California Pizza Kitchen and it was so flippin amazing. Usually I just get the buffalo chicken, but this time we decided to do something crazy and got the jamacian jerk. It was seriously so good and made the buffalo chicken that we always love taste so inadequate. At the gateway mall we found a forever 21 and subsequently shopped there for quite a while. It was great to see Amy and we were very thankful that she took the hour and half drive just to meet us for dinner!

Homecoming-Thursday

The main mission of my trip was to eat at all the places that I dearly love. The next morning I got up and into the shower, I didn’t bring a blow dryer because I figured Id just use my roommates but just my luck, theirs broke literally hours before I woke up. Needless to say I ended up walking to school with wet hair! I haven’t seen one of my favorite mission companions for just over two years, so I got to meet her for lunch at J dawgs (so good). That was after my two hours of shopping at the bookstore! I headed to PDBio with Ashley where we learned about blood.

Me and Giant Sister Barlow
When Ashley, Cristy and I were in sign language together we would go to Walmart and do no voice labs. This time we didn’t talk soley in sign but it was pretty fun being there together like the good ole days.

That night Hailey and I were suppose to go on the Heber Creeper but our dates got the swine flu. Everyone is obsessed with the flu up there, they have hand sanitizer everywhere and in every class they talk about it, even in church! Instead of going on the date their ward had a temple night and even thought I went to the temple less than five days prior, I have missed the provo temple and wanted to go with them. We got to the temple and I looked in to the baptistery and every seat was full. I talked to the guy at the desk and he said that I would go into the over flow room and then I would be moved into the next room. The over flow room was 3 fourths full, I had never been to the temple when it was that busy before!!! It was kind of crazy because in Mesa, I really did just walk in, and walked out, but in Provo I was there longer than my friends were who did a session. I didn’t have time to blow dry my hair, so once again I was walking in the below 50 weather with wet hair!!!

Homecoming-Wed Night

I decided last year when I was in Salt Lake for a Reba concert that consequently coincided with the byu home coming football game that as roommates we should make it a goal to always get together on this weekend. We weren’t all together at once, but at one time or another we did see everyone except for Kara. This trip was the first time I got to use my new Reba luggage and I was a little obsessed, but to be perfectly honest it is so flippin cute, no one can deny it.

Cristy and Ashley came to pick me up at the airport, they even made a sweet sign with treats in the backseat for me! I came in quite late, so we were pretty tired.

Elementary lunch

I have some friends that I’ve known all the way back to elementary school. We are all super busy, but try to find a time that we can meet up and catch up on our lives. This year Jessica is pregnant so she got to choose the place to eat. Paradise bakery was pretty good and the cookies were to die for!

Relief Society Broadcast

Every year I want 50 girls at the relief society general broadcast. We got close this year, ok well maybe only half, but still a good turnout in my eyes. I still miss Sister Parkin and I think Sister Beck always dresses like she is from star trek, but I am trying. After the broadcast we went to fajitas and all I can say is, don’t get their margaritas they were expensive and not that good at all.

Fountain Time

I can remember going to fountain hills when I was probably ten years old. I had thought that the fountain that shot high into the sky was really really far away. Turns out its not that far at all! It was basically great weather to walk around and enjoy a nice quiet safe neighborhood. Next time I will def need to bring some golf discs because their disc golf course was basically amazing. The fountain was pretty awesome, I also loved seeing the turtles all “run” into the water.

Drunken Keith

I saw Keith Urban in concert a year ago, but it was at the stadium and didn’t think it was very good. So I decided to give him another chance. Tickets were 95 bucks and there was no way I wanted to spend that much, so I haggled with this guy for front row of the lower bowl. Finally he gave in and I got them for 45. He put on a good show, but honestly I was basically enthralled with the drunk guy in front of me. He danced to every song super fast, even if it was a slow song and had no rhythm whatsoever! Just so happens as I’m video taping this drunk guy so that I could show a friend, Kieth Urban walks right in front of me! It was crazy, I literally could have touched him, but was so surprised. You can see the dancing drunk guy get to shake his hand and let me tell you, he told everyone about it. My favorite part of the night was when the drunk guy got up on his chair to dance and almost fell off.
