I turned 28 in October, which clearly it’s not fun getting old but there’s no way to stop it. I did get to try fried green tomatoes which I have wanted to do since I saw the movie, “Fried Green tomatoes” Turns out they are not super delicious, but maybe that’s because I didn’t get them from the Whistle stop café?! My birthday landed on Conference this year which never makes for a very exciting day but it was topped off with a trip to Oreganos which never disappoints.
The following weekend I was headed to Utah for my traditional BYU Homecoming trip. It was a blast as always. I got to stop at my favorite places, jdawgs, the creamery, even Zupas which I have now disowned since they stopped making my favorite sandwich in the world! You could say I did a little shopping, since I came home with 52 BYU shirts. I even got to go to the Football game which was freezing but so awesome. Even though I go every year, I always forget how fun it is to actually be at the game and sing our fight song. We ended the weekend with a special dinner for Calvin who just made General at the game Risk. To be honest we just had dinner and told him it was in his honor. At one point I said, We are going to take a picture of us eating, Calvin is going to give a toast about becoming General and then we are going to go outside and have a mini photo shoot.” Then as if it was completely normal to do all of these things, they all did it with no complaint or backlash. And that’s why I love my friends, even when I say crazy things that don’t make sense at all, no one even hesitates. Ok maybe sometimes I get hesitation, but overall they almost always do it and we have a flippin blast!
30 dollars worth of cupcakes
Yes-we have great poses
Highlights from the trip include, Sister Dixon’s keepsee idea, 35 dollars at Sweet tooth fairy where we tried every cupcake they had even the special “ VaNiella” which I thought was gross by the way. Painting in the quilted bear. Buying 52 BYU shirts. Jessica praying in Mala. The rolling heater at the Dixons.
Ever since Cindy met Taylor Swifts dad at a football game we have been dreaming of going to Taylor Swift. We ended up buying something like 24 tickets in total. I wanted them to be front row, but apparently if you are friends or family with Taylor Swift, then you get lower bowl. Granted they were amazing seats. She put on a great show too, it reminded me of a Reba concert from back in the day with clothing changes and dancers etc. My favorite part was probably the song haunted, cause the whole time you thought something was going to happen with these huge bells. And sure enough people fell right out of them, it was quite the gag. Nothing will ever top the way she performed Love Story last year though, that was amazing. Probably my favorite thing about the concert was getting free mascara from Covergirl outside, you can’t beat free stuff!
